What is Sage?​

Sage is your personal AI assistant in Cadence that helps you understand your time tracking data through natural conversation. Ask questions about your activities, patterns, and habits in plain language, and Sage provides intelligent insights based on your actual data.

How does Sage work?​

Sage uses advanced AI to:

  • Understand your questions: Ask in natural language, no special commands needed
  • Access your data: Retrieves your activities, notes, and time tracking information
  • Provide insights: Analyzes patterns and answers questions about your time
  • Maintain context: Remembers your conversation for more natural interaction

What can I ask Sage?​

You can ask Sage about:

Your Activities​

  • "What activities did I work on today?"
  • "How much time did I spend on each activity this week?"
  • "What's my most common activity?"
  • "When do I usually exercise?"

Your Notes​

  • "What notes did I add yesterday?"
  • "Show me notes from last week about work"
  • "What was I thinking during my morning routine?"

Your Patterns​

  • "What are my daily patterns?"
  • "When am I most productive?"
  • "How has my schedule changed this month?"
  • "What activities do I do in the evening?"

Time Analysis​

  • "How many hours did I work this week?"
  • "What percentage of my day is spent on health activities?"
  • "Compare my work hours this week vs last week"

How do I access Sage?​

  1. Open the Cadence app
  2. Tap the Chat tab in the bottom navigation
  3. Type your question and send
  4. Sage responds with insights from your data

Note: The Chat feature is controlled by a feature flag and may not be visible to all users yet.

Is Sage free to use?​

Chat feature availability depends on your subscription plan. Check the Subscription & Pricing FAQ for current plan details.

Which AI does Sage use?​

Sage intelligently selects the best AI provider for your device:

  • Apple Intelligence (iOS 18+): Uses on-device AI when available for enhanced privacy and faster responses
  • Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet: Falls back to Claude for other platforms or when Apple Intelligence isn't available

You don't need to choose—Sage automatically uses the best option for your device.

Is my data private when using Sage?​

Absolutely! Your privacy is protected:

  • Apple Intelligence: Processes data entirely on your device when available—nothing leaves your phone
  • Anthropic Claude: When used, your data is sent securely via encrypted connection and is not used to train AI models
  • No storage: Conversations are not permanently stored on external servers
  • Your control: You own all your data and can delete conversations anytime

Can Sage help me create or modify activities?​

Currently, Sage is read-only and can:

  • Answer questions about your existing data
  • Provide insights and analysis
  • Help you understand patterns

Future updates may include the ability to:

  • Create new activities
  • Modify timeslices
  • Add notes via voice
  • Suggest schedule optimizations

Does Sage remember previous conversations?​

Sage maintains context within your current conversation session, but conversations are not permanently stored. Each new session starts fresh to protect your privacy.

Can I use Sage offline?​

Sage requires an internet connection to function, except when using Apple Intelligence on iOS 18+, which can process some queries on-device.

What if Sage doesn't understand my question?​

If Sage doesn't understand:

  • Rephrase: Try asking in a different way
  • Be specific: Include dates, activity names, or time ranges
  • Simplify: Break complex questions into smaller parts
  • Check data: Ensure you have tracked activities for the time period you're asking about

Examples:

  • Instead of: "How was last week?"
  • Try: "What activities did I log most often last week?"

Can Sage speak other languages?​

Sage currently works best in English, but support for additional languages (German, Danish, Spanish, French) is planned for future updates.

How accurate is Sage?​

Sage's accuracy depends on your data:

  • Perfect tracking: More complete activity logging = better insights
  • Data quality: Accurate activity names and categories improve responses
  • Time range: Larger datasets provide more meaningful pattern analysis

If you notice inaccuracies, please report them through the app's Customer Support feature.

What data can Sage access?​

Sage can access:

  • ✅ Your logged activities and timeslices
  • ✅ Your notes
  • ✅ Activity categories and metadata
  • ✅ Time tracking statistics

Sage cannot access:

  • ❌ Data from other users
  • ❌ Your authentication credentials
  • ❌ Device settings or personal files
  • ❌ Information outside of Cadence

Can I turn off Sage?​

If the Chat feature is enabled for your account, you can simply choose not to use it. The tab remains available but you're never required to interact with Sage.
